2020 Workshop Series – Breath Mechanics for Performing Artists

Understanding how warming up your lungs – just as a musician warms up before playing an instrument – is essential to your ability to support your vocal performances. Learn the anatomy of your 3-part breath and how it interacts with your nervous system and communication through voice and facial expression. You will discover a combination of deep breathing and myofascial self-massage techniques using Yoga Tune Up® balls to help lower stress levels and any performance anxiety issues, help you breathe more efficiently AND increase your lung capacity for:

– Public Speaking/Teaching
– Performing Arts
– Singing
– Voice Overs

PART 1: An Introduction to Breath Mechanics and a Diaphragmatic Workout

An overview of the 3 zones of your breath and how they interact with each other and affect your nervous system. Learn how to workout your diaphragm (hint: it’s not doing sit-ups or crunches…) using the Yoga Tune Up Coregeous Ball and to free up space in the abdomen, rib cage and upper back allowing for deeper and more controlled breathing during performances.

PART 2: The Full Breath Tune Up

A deeper exploration of the upper accessory muscles that assist with your breathing. Learn face, neck and jaw relaxation techniques with the original Yoga Tune Up balls and how to use the Coregeous Ball in controlled breathing exercises to help further increase the capacity of your lungs.
